Built in 1928 as the General Post Office and turned into a hotel in 2001. The grey stone block with its row of heavy columns anchors the mouth of the Singapore River, and the Merlion is just across the road. There are 399 rooms. It's an easy walk to the Marina Bay Sands light show, which is why the reviews come in equal measure from families with kids and honeymooners.
