This was Emperor Gojong’s palace in the final years of the Korean Empire. Pass Junghwajeon’s painted eaves and a neoclassical stone hall and fountain appear, making the shift between eras unusually clear. Watch the guard ceremony at Daehanmun, then continue along the stone-wall road into Jeong-dong.
