Odori Nishi 1-chome, Chuo Ward, at the east end of Odori Park

A steel tower from 1957 with a giant digital clock on its side, a fixture of Sapporo postcards. Buy a ticket on the third floor and the lift takes you to a deck about 90 m up. Stand at the west windows and Odori Park runs ruler-straight toward the mountains. Mt Moiwa and the JR Tower are higher, but this is the only spot that looks straight down the park. Go up at dusk and watch the park lamps come on one by one.
