A ropeway takes you to the mid-station, then a little cable car climbs the rest of the way to a deck at 531 m. After dark the gridded city switches on below you, and the lights run out across the Ishikari plain toward the sea. It is billed as one of Japan's three great new night views, and the scale is nothing like the TV Tower's. It is much colder at the top than in town, so bring a proper jacket even in October.
