A dark sand and pebble beach on the south coast, backed by white pumice cliffs carved by wind and waves into pillars, hollows and folds that look like the moon. They are volcanic ash from the great eruption around 1600 BCE, now hardened to rock. Walk it in the late afternoon, when the low sun turns the cliffs warm yellow.
