Address
The single block between Hyde Street (top) and Leavenworth Street (bottom)

The hill was so steep they bent this one block into eight hairpin turns of red brick. From Hyde Street at the top you look past the bends to Coit Tower and the bay; from Leavenworth Street at the bottom you get the famous view of cars creeping down one by one, brake lights on, between banks of hydrangeas. People live in the houses on both sides, so the stairs on the sidewalk are the easy way down. It's a half-hour stop, best paired with the Powell-Hyde cable car.
