One gate and the Old Town noise drops away. Every grave is planted thick with flowers, marked by fine wrought-iron crosses instead of headstones. Against the Mönchsberg cliff behind are the catacombs, chapels hollowed out of the rock that you can climb to by wooden stairs. The cemetery scene where the von Trapps hide in the film was modelled on this place. It's somewhere for a quiet loop, not a long stay.
