From an Old Town lane, a lift bored into the rock takes you straight up the cliff. The doors open onto the terrace of the modern art museum, and from the railing you get the Salzach, the Old Town's domes and spires, and the fortress up to the right, all in one frame. The Old Town looks closer from here than from the fortress, so a lot of people prefer it for photos. A woodland path along the top leads to the fortress in 20–30 minutes.
