At Seljalandsfoss a path runs behind the cliff, so you loop around and look out through the falling water; you'll get drenched even in a poncho. Half an hour on is Skógafoss, a wide wall of water loud enough to fill your ears, with a rainbow in the spray on sunny days. Last comes Reynisfjara: jet-black sand, cliffs of hexagonal basalt columns and sea stacks offshore. The waves here are genuinely dangerous. A calm sea can suddenly throw a big wave far up the beach and drag people out; it has killed visitors several times, most recently in August 2025.
