Five minutes on a small ferry and you are on an island of grass and sea birds. In the middle stands the Imagine Peace Tower, Yoko Ono's memorial to John Lennon, which shoots a pale beam of light into the dark on lit evenings. A loop along the shore takes in basalt-column sculpture and the old Viðey House, and a couple of hours slip by. The city is just a line of roofs across the water.
