Across Jiaozhou Bay on the west coast, a crescent of fine yellow sand curves for more than 3.5 kilometres. Most of the year it's a place for long beach walks, but in July and August the International Beer Festival takes over Golden Beach Beer City next door, with fireworks and drone shows. The coastal path and hilltop lookout at Shique Beach, off the right-hand end, are quieter and prettier.
