Bach Dang street in Duong Dong, by the river mouth near Dinh Cau shrine

At dusk stalls light up on both sides of the street, each piled with lobster, mantis shrimp, sea urchins and scallops on ice. Point at what you want, they weigh it and throw it on the charcoal or in the steamer. In between are pearl jewellery, pepper and dried-seafood shops, rolled ice cream and coconut stands. Even if you skip the seafood, one slow lap is worth it.
