Get off the beaches and Phuket still has forest like this: inside the Khao Phra Thaeo protected area, water slides down rocks under a canopy. A gibbon rehabilitation project sits near the entrance, and with luck you hear calls somewhere in the trees. Mornings are the coolest. The fall runs strong in the rainy season and can shrink to a trickle in the dry months.
