It's the old Kata Beach Resort site, and walking out of the gate puts you on Kata Beach. Travellers who want something calmer and clearer-watered than Patong pick it a lot. The cheapest rate included breakfast on every date we checked, dropping to about US$76 in late October. The street out front has restaurants, pubs and a small market, so dinner doesn't need a tuk-tuk.
