Around sunset, a huge lot fills with row after row of canopies and charcoal smoke drifts out over the car park. There are clothes, souvenirs and odds and ends, but the food section is the point: grilled skewers, seafood, som tam, roti and fruit shakes, all noticeably cheaper than in the tourist malls. It runs smaller on weekdays and at full size on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Locals outnumber tourists, which keeps it lively.
