Past the entrance you first reach the low lower chapel, painted blue with gold stars. Climb a tight spiral stair into the upper chapel and the walls all but disappear: 15-metre windows of coloured glass on every side, each divided into panels of Bible scenes, more than a thousand in all. On a sunny afternoon red and blue light spills onto the floor. Reviews say the colours fall flat on grey days, so save it for good weather.
