The park runs along the Okawa River for a little over four kilometres, from Kema Gate down to Temmabashi. In late March and early April thousands of cherry trees bloom together and form a tunnel of petals over the water. Locals spread out mats and pull out bento and beer for hanami. Outside bloom season the joggers and cyclists take over and the pace is slow. At night the streetlights catch the blossoms and give it a different mood.
