5-5-2 Tenjinbashi, Kita-ku (inside the Tenjinbashisuji arcade)

Halfway down Tenjinbashisuji, at 2.6 km billed as Japan's longest shopping arcade, this sushi bar gathers a queue every evening. The fish draped over the rice is big and thick, yet two pieces run ¥100–550, so it is known as the place to eat your fill for a little more than conveyor-belt prices. Regulars and foreign travellers share the counter about equally. Some reviews mention a cramped room and sticky tables, others find the red fish ordinary; think 'old-school value spot with a queue'.
