On the slope of a small island right beside the airport, white buildings are stacked like steps. Around forty shops sell pancakes, burgers and gelato, and every level looks out to sea. Every few minutes a plane comes in low overhead and touches down on the runway. At sunset the western sky goes red, which is why so many people make it their last stop before a flight.
