Just south of Naha Airport's runway, white buildings step up the slope of a small causeway island. More than ten cafés and eateries share it, including Shiawase no Pancake (famous for soufflé pancakes), strawberry desserts, gelato and taco rice. From the seaward terraces, planes drop low every few minutes, and at dusk the sun sets over the western sea. It's close enough to the airport for arrival or departure day.
