Address
Arimatsu, Midori Ward; about 800 m along the old Tokaido road

About 800 m of the old Tokaido road survives here, lined with tile-roofed merchant houses where shops sell tie-dyed towels and handkerchiefs. The Arimatsu Narumi Shibori Hall has dyeing demonstrations, and hands-on workshops need a reservation. It is roughly half an hour by train from central Nagoya, so it works as a half-day trip. The streetscape was designated a nationally important preservation district in 2016.
