The Wittelsbach family's town palace for over four centuries. It opens with a showstopper: the Antiquarium, a 66-metre barrel-vaulted hall painted end to end, lined with Roman busts. After that come gilded mirror rooms, porcelain cabinets and royal bedchambers in a sequence that never seems to end; with the free audio guide, two hours vanish. The Treasury has its own entrance, with ruby-and-pearl crowns and a jewel-encrusted St George statuette glittering in the cases.
