- A broad lawned square at the west end of the museum quarter
Temple-like gates and halls ring a wide lawn. The Doric Propylaea closes the west end and the Glyptothek, a museum of ancient sculpture, stands on one side. It is a one-glance lesson in 19th-century neoclassicism, and for a moment Munich feels like Athens. The square is always open and runs straight into the museum quarter. The NS Documentation Centre, covering the Nazi era, is also nearby.
