After hours of winding coastal road, a line of honey-coloured limestone stacks appears in the surf below the cliffs. The sea has been eating them for millennia, so despite the name there are fewer than twelve left, and at sunset the rock shifts from orange to pink. Five minutes' drive away, Loch Ard Gorge is a small cove tied to a famous shipwreck, with stairs down to the sand. The new Keerray Woorroong visitor centre opens on 16 October 2026 with timed parking bookings, so if you're driving, book a slot.
