Founded in the 14th century and largely rebuilt in the 16th, this was once one of the biggest Islamic colleges in North Africa. Through the entrance passage you reach a courtyard with a long rectangular pool, its walls layered in three bands: zellige tiles below, lace-like plaster in the middle, carved cedar at the top. Upstairs are dozens of tiny student cells. It costs half what the palaces charge, and plenty of reviewers like it more.
