- Roxas Boulevard seafront; the 500 m Dolomite Beach stretch runs between the US Embassy and the Manila Yacht Club breakwater
Palms and a seawall run the length of Roxas Boulevard. After 5pm every bench fills, and the sun turns from orange to red as it drops behind the silhouettes of cargo ships out in the bay. South of the US Embassy there's Dolomite Beach, an artificial strip of crushed white rock that gives you sand underfoot in the middle of the city. The water is not clean enough to go in, and much of the beach is viewed from behind a railing. Once the sun's gone, the hotels across the road light up and the mango-shake carts get busy.
