Half of the old iron-roofed Ribeira market turned food hall. Twenty-six stalls and eight bars ring long communal tables, so you just do a lap and order from the photo menus. Grilled sardines with bread and olives, croquettes, a steak from Café de São Bento, a Manteigaria custard tart: all in one place. It's a good first-day sampler of Portuguese food. The catch is the crowd, and plenty of people say the same dishes cost more here than at the original restaurants.
