A huge concrete ship's prow pushing out over the river. Prince Henry the Navigator stands at the front holding a caravel, with some thirty explorers, missionaries and poets lined up behind him, all staring out to sea. A lift takes you to the top, where you look straight down on a 50-metre marble compass rose and world map set into the pavement, each landfall stamped with the year Portuguese ships got there. Belém Tower sits off to one side and Jerónimos fills the view behind.
