The oil-rich Armenian collector Calouste Gulbenkian put a lifetime of buying under one roof, so you jump from Egyptian sculpture and Islamic carpets to Rembrandt and Monet in a few steps. A room of René Lalique jewellery sits apart. The pond garden outside draws as many people resting as the galleries draw looking.
