Across from the basilica sits an English-style park where locals claim benches with the newspaper in the afternoon. Ducks drift on the pond and there is a small café. The white-domed basilica, built by the royal family in the late 1700s, has a 112-step climb to the dome terrace with views to the city and river. Entry to the nave is free.
