The convent church lost its entire roof in the 1755 earthquake and was never rebuilt, so the tall Gothic arches now stand open to the sky. Grass grows on the nave floor and light pours through empty window frames. A small archaeology museum in the old apse holds an odd mix of mummies, tombs and carved stone.
