Step up to the railing and red-striped cliffs stack back to the horizon, with the Colorado River a thread at the bottom. The South Rim is over four hours' drive each way, so day tours usually leave hotels around 2am, stop for stars and the Milky Way on the way, add Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, and get back after 9pm. It's a near-20-hour slog, but three big sights in one day without driving is why it's the most-reviewed trip out of Vegas.
