The sand curves south in a long bow and the sea faces due west, so the sun drops between the offshore islands. After 5pm local families spread mats, and smoke from coconut and satay stalls drifts along the beach. While the sky shifts from orange to pink to violet, people line the waterline for silhouette shots. The water is shallow, so this is a sunset place more than a swimming one.
