Cross the forest stream and you reach the traditional houses of five peoples: Kadazan-Dusun, Rungus, Lundayeh, Bajau and Murut. A guide takes you into each one for fire-starting with bamboo, a taste of rice wine and a go at the blowpipe. It ends with a dance where people leap between clapping bamboo poles, then a Sabahan buffet. Tours run rain or shine, and some say the wet forest smelled better for it.
