Akashiyaki, called 'tamagoyaki' locally, is an eggy, wobbly cousin of takoyaki with octopus inside, dipped in warm dashi. You don't need to go to Akashi: this shop near Motomachi Station serves it. Guide listings put a 10-piece serving at ¥700, made with live octopus, with two table sauces if you want a sweeter or saltier hit. They arrive lined up on a wooden board, which is half the fun.
