The 1938 city hall that tells the city's story

Address
Beside the Love River, a green old building off Fubei Road

Topped with green tiles, this 1938 Japanese-era building began life as the city hall. Arched windows, wide stairways and high ceilings still carry the feel of a government office from that time. The exhibits follow Kaohsiung from fishing village to port to big city and also cover the 228 Incident. The building is half the show, so even the corridors between galleries are worth the walk. Pair it with a Love River stroll or Pier-2 for a half-day.
