Opened in Istanbul in 1864, the shop now has more than a dozen branches across the city. The Sultanahmet one sits beside the köfte house, inside the Literature Reading House on Divanyolu. Glass cases run the length of the room with pistachio baklava, kadayıf and lokum (Turkish delight) in every colour, and picking takes a while. Eat in with çay or Turkish coffee, or take a box of lokum home as a gift.
