Timber chalets on a cliff edge facing the big three

Tickets
Village free; lifts extra (covered by the Swiss Travel Pass)
Address
On the cliff top west of the Lauterbrunnen Valley; car-free

No cars get up here, so all you hear is cowbells and footsteps. Timber chalets line the edge of a sheer drop, and across the valley the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau stand like a wall. The little train from Grütschalp keeps the three peaks in the window the whole way, and the village itself takes 30 minutes to stroll end to end. People tend to linger at the log-bench photo spots or on the path down to Gimmelwald.
