Start at the Chapel Bridge, 5 minutes' walk from Lucerne station

The ride is half the point: the Luzern–Interlaken Express climbs over the Brünig Pass, swapping lake views for meadows. In town, the covered wooden Chapel Bridge cuts diagonally across the river, with old triangular paintings hanging under its roof. Climb the Musegg Wall to look over the old-town roofs, see the Lion Monument carved into a cliff, then walk the lakefront and the day is full. Add Mount Rigi or Pilatus if you want a mountain too.
