A neoclassical mansion put up around 1890 for the French colonial administration. Yellow walls, tall shuttered windows and a wide sweeping staircase greet you at the door. Inside, floors of photos and objects follow the city through growth, war and everyday life. The garden holds some old military vehicles and plenty of shade for a breather. Independence Palace is close by, so the two pair easily.
