A national museum gathering the clothes, tools, weddings and funerary customs of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups. The drum-shaped main hall holds silver-studded highland costumes, a bicycle stacked high with fish traps and a buffalo cart. The real draw is the garden behind, where full-size traditional houses stand to be climbed: a Ba Na communal house with a roof over 19 metres tall, a long house on stilts, Gia Rai tomb carvings. It's less famous than the lakeside sights, but it keeps turning up as people's one museum pick in Hanoi.
