An inverted pyramid, wide on top and narrow at the base, visible from far off. Inside, floors walk through a thousand years of Thang Long, its culture, wars and the growth into today's city. It sits far from the Old Quarter circuit, so crowds are thin and you can go slowly. A good pick for a day when you want Hanoi's history in one place.
