Before sunrise the promenade belongs to a few joggers and neighbourhood elders doing morning exercises. Island silhouettes appear first in dark grey across the water, then the sky turns orange. There is no ticket and it is minutes from the hotels. When you tire, a beachfront cafe will make you an iced condensed-milk coffee. On overcast days the sun may never show.
