Address
The rock outcrop rising behind Hong Gai old town, just right of the Bai Chay Bridge's eastern end

This roughly 200-metre crag juts up from the Hong Gai waterfront. It's called Poem Mountain because the 15th-century King Le Thanh Tong is said to have had verses carved into its rock. The summit view over the city and bay is all over social media, but the trail has been officially closed for years. Some people still scramble up an unofficial route past barbed wire and through private yards; it's slippery and dangerous, and we don't recommend it. Admire the ridge from Long Tien Pagoda at its foot, the waterfront road, or the Queen Cable Car instead.
