You can see Fuji from Hakone: it peeks over the ridges from the pirate-ship deck, the ropeway and Owakudani. For the whole mountain head-on, though, you go to Lake Kawaguchi. From Oishi Park on the north shore Fuji stands complete across the water, and on a still morning it's mirrored upside down. From Hakone it's a bit over two hours by bus via Gotemba, so it eats a full day. On a short trip, chase a clear day inside Hakone instead.
