The aquarium sits at the tip of Hakata Bay, so the sea is right outside. In the big tank schools of sardines flash silver, and the outdoor pool hosts dolphin and sea lion shows several times a day. The penguin and seal corners are where kids stand longest. About 30 minutes from Hakata by train, it has become a standard half-day for families.
