A country tavern (konoba) up behind the Old Town on Srđ hill, in Bosanka village. People come for peka: octopus, lamb or veal with potatoes and vegetables, sealed in an iron pan under a bell-shaped lid buried in embers for three-plus hours. When the lid lifts, the meat splits with a spoon. Even in summer the hill air is cool, a world away from the Old Town crowds.
