Up the steps just inside Ploče Gate, three minutes from the Stradun's east end

Walk a few minutes east off the Stradun and the noise drops away. The 14th-century cloister is a square of arches mixing Gothic and Renaissance, with an orange tree and a well in the middle. The museum holds altarpieces by Ragusan painters and goldsmith work from the city's richest years. Even when cruise crowds jam the walls and the main square, this courtyard stays fairly empty.
