Elephants rescued from logging camps and trekking outfits live here in herds on wide riverside grassland. There's no riding and no show. You watch from raised platforms as they roll in the mud and wade across the river, then meet them up close at set times to hand over watermelon and bananas. Guides tell you where each one came from and why one limps or another has a crooked spine, and plenty of visitors say it changes how they see elephant tourism in Thailand. Hundreds of rescued dogs and cats share the grounds too.
