Walk the lanes of Taikoo Li and you hit an old mansion with a red-brick gate and black-tiled roof. Behind it is the hotel formerly known as The Temple House, now renamed Upper House Chengdu (成都居舍) by Swire. It opened in 2015 with 100 rooms and 42 serviced residences (Trip.com). The thousand-year-old Daci Temple is next door, and Mi Xun Teahouse inside holds a MICHELIN star and a Green Star for vegetarian Sichuan food. Taikoo Li and IFS start at the front door.
